How to delete your account and your data

You can request the deletion of your account and personal data from the O Amigo Secreto app at any time. This page explains how to do it and what happens to your data.

Deletion is a right guaranteed by the GDPR and by Brazil's LGPD, and it can be requested at any time at no cost. Once confirmed, we permanently remove your personal data and unlink your history from the groups you took part in. Some records that are strictly necessary for legal reasons or for the integrity of draws already held may be kept in anonymized form. Below we explain the step by step on the app and the web version, what is erased, what is retained and what to consider before deleting.

How to Delete Your Account

Via App (iOS/Android)

  3. 3Tap the "Delete Account" button
  4. 4If a group has other approved participants, transfer ownership and wait for acceptance; then confirm deletion

Via Web Version (PWA)

Data That Is Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:

  • Profile data (name, email, phone, photo, preferences)
  • Authentication identifiers (Google, Apple and Facebook OAuth IDs)
  • Personal content linked to your participation, such as wishlists, authored messages, photos, comments, themes, votes, and answers
  • Received notifications
  • Device tokens (push notifications)
  • Groups where you are the sole member (fully deleted)

Data Anonymized or Retained by Law

To preserve other participants' data integrity and meet legal obligations, some records are anonymized or retained temporarily:

  • Draw history: the reference to the user who executed the draw is removed (anonymized), but the draw record is kept for other participants
  • Groups with other approved participants: deletion is blocked until you request an ownership transfer and the new owner accepts it; ownership is not transferred automatically
  • Sponsored prizes: identification, address, tracking, and acceptance-term data is retained for 5 years after delivery to meet legal and regulatory obligations; after that, PII and the terms PDF are purged

Important Notice

  • Account deletion is permanent and irreversible
  • Prize delivery data may remain for the legal period of 5 years after delivery; other data follows the deletion and anonymization flow described above
  • We recommend saving any information you wish to keep before deleting your account
  • After deletion, you will not be able to recover your account or data
